Image-to-Image Translation

Image-to-image translation is a technique used in computer vision AI to translate an input image into a different output image. The aim of this technique is to learn a mapping between two different domains, such as converting a grayscale image into a colored image or transforming a summer landscape into a winter one. Image-to-image translation is achieved using generative adversarial networks (GANs), a type of neural network that consists of two components: a generator and a discriminator.

The generator learns to transform the input image into the desired output image, while the discriminator attempts to distinguish between the generated image and the real image. Through an iterative process, the generator learns to produce increasingly accurate output images while the discriminator improves its ability to distinguish between real and generated images. Image-to-image translation has a wide range of applications in computer vision AI, including image restoration, style transfer, and virtual try-on.
